Upon arriving in Kenya, the narrator meets Thomas, a young student and volunteer who tells the story of Nice, a young woman fighting against female genital mutilation in Kenya and around the world.

The decision is made to travel to southern Kenya at the foot of Kilimanjaro to meet Nice.

The Maasai are a well-known people living in southern Kenya near Tanzania, known as true warriors and semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers.

• Live near numerous parks in the region • Primary food consumed is milk, sometimes mixed with blood, extracted from cattle without killing them

Female genital mutilation is traditionally one of the most important elements of Maasai culture.

Nice grew up in a Maasai tribe similar to this one, but at age 8 she fled to escape excision and has since fought against female genital mutilation in Kenya and worldwide.

The situation appears to be improving in Kenya, partly thanks to Nice's tireless work.

The situation remains critical in other countries around the world.

• According to UNICEF, every minute six girls and women are excised somewhere in the world • Most affected countries are in Africa, including Somalia, Guinea, and Djibouti • In these countries, the percentage of mutilated women exceeds 95%
