No one has ever reached the bottom and returned to tell about it, making the deeper levels completely unexplored.

A young girl living in an orphanage at the abyss's edge, sent to collect trinkets on the first level to generate income.

A robot discovered by Riko capable of extending his arms and firing a massive laser beam, with technology surpassing all relics brought up from the abyss.

A message from Riko's mother, a famous adventurer lost at the bottom of the abyss, awaits her down below, motivating Riko to descend with Reg.

During their descent, they encounter countless different places, countless different dangers, and countless different characters.

The early episodes establish the world with details about the abyss's history, adventurers, and maps, creating an air of mystery around the pit.

It is a one-way journey from the start because the curse kills those who attempt to return, creating a poetic and melancholic atmosphere.

The anime is extremely pleasant to watch, produced by studio Kinema Citrus with superior graphic quality compared to the original manga.

Without a doubt one of the most solid things of the year, one of the strongest releases of late 2017 to early 2018.

The anime doesn't pull punches in depicting violence, injuries, and pain, without softening anything.

These disturbing scenes become even more disturbing when they happen to child characters, kids barely ten years old.

Violence is rare and used intelligently, not for gratuitous gore, but when it happens you can't help but wince.

The anime's overall quality fully justifies not skipping Made in Abyss.

It is one of the strongest releases of late 2017 to early 2018.

We highly encourage you to embark on this adventure.

Despite the disturbing content for children, the artistic and narrative quality more than compensates for this aspect.
