  • An international strategic framework
The 2030 Agenda is a universal program for sustainable development, adopted by all United Nations Member States on September 25, 2015. It constitutes an international strategic reference framework that provides all stakeholders with a medium-term horizon regarding social expectations, using a systemic approach to reconcile planetary boundaries with the fight against inequality.
The 2030 Agenda carries the ambition to transform our world by eradicating poverty and inequality toward a more prosperous, sustainable, just, environmentally respectful and peaceful world by 2030, in line with the Paris Climate Agreement concluded the same year. It is now THE reference for sustainable development.
  • 17 goals and 169 targets
It comprises 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets that cover all sustainable development issues such as climate, biodiversity, oceans, energy, water, food, as well as poverty, inequality, health, education, gender equality, prosperity and peace and partnerships. These Goals constitute both a common language and a universal analytical framework for all stakeholders and countries that "are all in the process of sustainable development."
Implementation of the 2030 Agenda requires both government action and action by civil society actors. The interrelationships between the SDGs encourage partnerships between actors and the overcoming of siloed or sectoral approaches.
  • France's commitment
France committed to the 2030 Agenda starting in 2015 by mobilizing all stakeholders to establish its roadmap to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Parliamentarians, ministries, businesses, associations, regional and local authorities, unions and researchers—more than 300 actors—co-built France's roadmap for the 2030 Agenda, the new national sustainable development strategy, adopted on September 20, 2019.
