  • Getting Help with F1 and Panel Shortcuts(0'002'22)
The F1 key opens the Image Line manual, allowing you to search for any feature or function in FL Studio and find focused help specific to selected sections like the channel rack.
    • F5 - Collapse and expand the playlist • F6 - Toggle the channel rack on and off • F7 - Open the piano roll for the current instrument • F8 - Open the plugin picker for drag-and-drop insertion • F9 - Open and close the mixer • F12 - Close all panels at once
Hold Ctrl and press F8 to open the pattern picker for listening to project patterns and dragging them into the playlist. Press Enter to detach panels and rearrange them for better screen organization.
These shortcuts are especially useful for laptop users or those with smaller screens who need to maximize their workspace.
  • Playlist Editing Tool Shortcuts(2'224'18)
    • P - Draw tool • B - Paint tool • D - Delete tool • T - Mute tool • S - Slip tool • C - Slice tool
Instead of clicking between toolbar buttons, use keyboard shortcuts for faster editing. For example, quickly cut a segment with C, delete with D, then paint over it with P.
Right-click and slice to automatically delete either the right half or the smaller section, eliminating the need to cut and then manually delete the unwanted portion.
    • Hold Ctrl and left-click drag to select audio without switching tools • Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for standard copy-paste • Ctrl+B to paint selections into the next available slot
  • Audio Consolidation and Playlist Navigation(4'185'31)
New to FL Studio 20: select MIDI or audio and press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+C to open the render panel. Press Start to convert the selection to audio, removing MIDI processing.
    • Middle-click and drag to move the screen fluidly • Ctrl+scroll wheel to zoom horizontally in and out • Alt+scroll wheel to scroll vertically through tracks
    • Right-click and press I to insert a new track • Right-click and press G to group a track with the one above • Continue pressing I while grouped to insert multiple tracks together
These navigation shortcuts are faster than using scroll bars and help you avoid tedious dragging when working with large projects.
  • Mixer Shortcuts and Channel Linking(5'316'39)
    • Alt+L on a mixer channel highlights which instrument or sample is being sent to it on the channel rack • Ctrl+L routes a channel to the mixer and names and colors it automatically based on the channel rack settings
Hold Shift and scroll the mouse wheel up and down on a mixer track to move it left and right without using drag operations.
Press Alt+R to quickly access the render track panel instead of navigating through the top menu to record or render a WAV file.
Press Alt+W to switch between a DB meter view and a waveform view on the mixer for different monitoring needs.
  • Channel Rack Selection and Pattern Creation(6'398'06)
Hold Shift and click to select multiple channels at once, allowing you to perform group tasks on all selected channels simultaneously.
Hold Shift+Ctrl and press the left or right arrow keys to move steps in the step sequencer without manually repainting them, making it easy to test different rhythms.
Press F4 to create a new pattern instantly. Name and color it, then start working in the new pattern without navigating through menus.
These shortcuts allow for rapid experimentation and pattern building, keeping your creative flow uninterrupted by menu navigation.
